About Fabuwood

Fabuwood began as a modest, assembled-in-the-USA kitchen cabinet company, operating out of a small warehouse in Jersey City. With globally sourced materials and a commitment to craftsmanship, we focused on building made-to-order cabinets that reflected quality and care. From the very beginning, our mission was clear: build the best product possible.

Founded in 2009 by Joel Epstein during the wake of the Great Recession, Fabuwood started with just 40 employees. By 2011, we leaned into automation and technology, achieving impressive efficiency and quality that belied our then 123,000 sq. ft. footprint.

By 2013, Fabuwood had earned multistate brand recognition, fueled by growing consumer trust and rapid expansion. This momentum led to the launch of a new headquarters project in 2016, spanning nine parcels in Newark, New Jersey, with the goal of redefining the modern workplace and increasing production capacity.

In 2017, Fabuwood’s commitment to a positive work culture was reaffirmed when 70% of nearly 800 employees voted to remain non-union. The following year, the company officially inaugurated its new superstructure and pledged to create 1,200 jobs within two years, hiring consistently to meet that target.

By 2019, Fabuwood was recognized as Acumatica’s Client of the Year, having successfully integrated its manufacturing, warehouse, pricing, and financial systems in just five months. This streamlined infrastructure helped position the company for even greater success.

In 2022, Fabuwood became the largest kitchen cabinet manufacturer in America, cementing its status as a leader in both semi-custom and custom cabinetry through its Custom Works division. The following year, under CEO Joel Epstein’s leadership, the company introduced InFocus, an initiative aimed at reigniting inspiration and purpose in workplace culture.

In 2024, Fabuwood acquired Plain & Fancy, expanding its premium custom cabinetry offerings. This acquisition brought together two brands known for excellence, combining personalized design with world-class craftsmanship.
